Today is a holiday for my school so I researched and found out that there is actually no venomous primates in the world because as I said on teusday the slow loris in not venomous and it actually uses a concentrated form of allergen. I think its important that people know that slow lorises are not venomous because it could start making people 'defang' them to use an antivenom and when the international animal rescue finds a slow loris with its teeth cut of they will use the 'root canal' treatment to regrow its teeth and then relocate them and that makes me wonder howdoes it feel to have no teeth?
Today I emailed the executive chief of the intrnation animal rescue organization that I was conserened about the slow loris trade and that my and Liam will do whatever we can to help or raise awareness. I found out how the slow lorises are treated in captivity, they are treated horribly because in the mornigng they are terrorised and cant go to sleep and the slow loris is a nocturnal creture so if it was to get no sleep that would be a huge affect on its health. I think it was important that I emailed international animal ruscue because someone from the organization could help me and Liam raise awarenessabout slow lorises in a assembely and this makes me wonder how does it feel to be a illegal slow lors trader?
Today Liam and I did some research about the slow loris and found out that the slow loris is not venomous, it actually uses a concentrated form of allergen that is kept in a gland called the Brachial gland that is in the armpits, the slow lorises lick their arm pits and get the allergen on its teeth and toung to protect itself, but the illegal sellers cut out the teth so the victim is harmless. Today Liam and I also contacted the international animal rescue because we wanted to help raise awareness about the slow lorises and do what we can to help.
today for homework I have to tell an interesting fact so here goes nothing. Did you know that the slow loris is the most common animal that is on the black pet market but thanks to the government the slow loris captivity has been redused from 96% to 35%. The slow loris is also the most venomous primate in the world and has bit lady Gaga because she tried to use one in one of her songs. The reason I am trying to raise awareness about slow lorises is because due to my reasearch the slow lorises might be extinct in 5 years if the pet trade is not reducing. THis makes me wonder how many slowlorises are sold a week?
So basically what we do every Friday from now on is do a reflection with the 4 steps:
What did I do, Why did I do it, What did I learn and What should I do next. Today Ms Buckley took us to the secondary's M.A.D performence. M stands for music A stands for art and d stands for dance and Ms Buckley brought us there beause she wanted us to see if we have any ideas for exhibition and here is mine. I think we could make a musical about some people that time travel to different times to solve different issues around the world and time. I think the thing I do the best is researching because if you have your have your heart set on something and have an opportunity than you have a 87% chance of succeding. Im really proud of choosing this issue because I have always hated animal abuse and I would love to be an activist. The thing that really helps me in my course through exhibition is Liam, he has shown me very informational videos and websites and is pretty funny.
Also sorry I couldn't find a good pic Today I did my lines of inquiery like I said yesterday when I was sick so this week all I have to do is research upon my chosen task. I could have used this information for another issue like dog abuse because in the pet trade dogs get abused. What inspired me is my four year old shi-tzu named Patchy after his brown splotches and the reason he inspires me is that I cant imagine him in a crammed cage with other dogs neglected and abused. What I learned that I didnt know before is that money sometimes is the root of all evil I mean look at poverty, look at all the people on the streets so what do you think about money? please comment down below. This is when he was little. Today I didnt go to school because because of my ankle and my eye, it has a bump on it so I went to the eye doctor and she said that I had a infection on my eyelid so today I couldn't do my lines of inquiry tomorrow. What I learned today is that the slow loris will not/can not defend themselves when tickled because their teeth are clipped with nail clippers. The main message for me is that the people that tickle slow lorises either don't know or don't care. If I could restart everything I would not create money and instead trade because people want money so they don't care if the hurt a slow loris.
Please go on this link to stop tickling the slow lorises today I did some research for exhibition and while I was researching I found what happens to Slow Loris. Their teeth will be removed with a nail clipper so buyers don't get bitten. On the internet there are viral videos abut Slow Loris 'tickling'when actually they hate it and raise their arms up because their arm pits hold a venomous chemical that they use by licking and biting whatever threatens them and killing whatever threatens hem in a matter of seconds. Tomorrow the whole of year 6 will be focusing on their lines of inquiry for exhibition. When I blog to raise awareness I feel like I am special because I want to raise awareness to save the bearded dragons, slow loris's, cockatoo's all these animals are suffering all because of the illegal pet trade. What surprises me is that the people dont care about animals they just want money, now money is the root of almost all evil from robberies to illegal pet trading all they want is to be rich. The reason I chose to study this is because all those animals that are involved in the pet trade cant speak for themselves so we have to.
